Chatroulette, the biggest fad of the internet?

Seems like the hottest bubble of of the internet is a social media site called Chatroulette. Note I used the word “bubble” because I think, the speed at which this site is gaining ground is the same speed visitors would realize how junky this site is, and dump it. What the site does is randomly connect you to people around the world. It was developed by a 17yr old russian kid.

Anyways, I set out to try this new “fad”; I was so pumped to see what it was all about. I got to the site and as I clicked on the “Play” button, I couldn’t believe my eyes…..some dude jerking off!!!!! I wasted no time in shutting down my browser ASAP! I felt like I had made one of the worst decisions of my life, and I so wish I could have back the 2 seconds I just spent. Geez….I wouldn’t even recommend this site for even my enemies.

Sam Anderson does a good job of breaking in his article “The Human Shuffle”

I think the internet is a great tool, and one of the best things that has happened so far. But I also think it’s like a double edged sword. Some of the negative effects of the web is Chatroulette, spreading ignorance and killing productivity….and the sad part about this is that it happens on a large scale.
